Sutton Place Residence
Christopher Dierig was the Project Manager for a renovation of an apartment in a post-war building facing the East River. To fulfill the client's wish of a loftier space to highlight her art collection, and to enjoy river views from far inside the apartment, all non-load bearing interior walls were demolished. New walls were held lower than the ceiling, sometimes open, sometimes capped with frosted glass, to enhance the limited height. Curved walls were constructed, and bamboo floors were inlaid on the diagonal, further highlighting the expanse of space. Color changing LED lighting was utilized to create different atmospheres, enhancing the sculptural quality of the space.
